Hello! If you’re here then you’re probably invited to our wedding.
Please find all the details below, and email naomiandjamie2019@gmail.com if you have any questions!
We can’t wait to see you at the wedding xx
— Naomi & Jamie
We would recommend staying in Gileston/St Athan Village, Cowbridge, Llancarfan, Llantwit Major, or Cardiff City.
Our recommendations are below, but there are also many Airbnbs in the surrounding areas and Cardiff. Please let Naomi or Jamie know if you need any further help or suggestions.
Please note that whilst Uber does operate out of Cardiff city you are likely to struggle to get one to pick you up from the venue at the end of the night. We recommend booking a taxi beforehand.
The venue has stated that buses are not able to reach the venue due to lack of turning space, but minibuses are fine. Cars can be left at Gileston Manor overnight but that they must be picked up by 11am the next day.
We ignored each other for five years in secondary school, and the first time we spoke was when Naomi offered me a minstrel in our a-level law class. I don’t share chocolate, so thought she was either strange or generous. Turns out it was the latter.
We became inseparable after the first night of university when we both rushed to the dance floor as “Hips Don’t Lie” by Shakira came on. Nearly 13 years later and here we are….
Climbing a volcano in Indonesia which our fellow climbers found a breeze, whilst we wheezed, nearly fainted and hobbled our way to the top.
LOUD.
Kidding.
Bestfriendanyonecouldeveraskfor. Does that count?
Sister
One of my favourite memories of Naomi was when the family went on mass to London for the Classical Brits when we were in our late teens. Naomi took perhaps too much advantage of the free bar there and ended up telling Lang-Lang (world famous concert pianist) that he was “good at the piano”.
Loud
Sister
I don't think it was a particularly enjoyable experience for her, but probably one of the most amusing memories I have of Naomi is when she tried to get onto a bank (which was about a meter away) whilst in a fast-moving boat, white water rafting in France. Amazingly the wobbly leap of faith worked, and she landed on her feet, home and dry.
Big-hearted
I’m Alex; sister of the groom and bridesmaid. First met her at Jamie’s house party in Earlsfield, then drove her home when I realised she was my next-door neighbour.
Mad (for marrying my brother)
Much of getting to know Jamie at school was by being on the receiving end of his asinine practical jokes. I'd say his finest work was when he used his bikelock to chain my school bag to a drainpipe in a busy student thoroughfare; simple yet effective.
In 2005 a few of us ventured down to Newquay to indulge in underage drinking and enjoy Cornwall's overcrowded beaches. That summer is famous for England's historic victory against Australia in the Ashes. I have particularly fond memories of Jamie participating in a game of beach cricket with such zeal that he pioneered his own brand of cricket shot (or, I suppose, non-shot). Where a delivery was wide of the stumps, he would lunge as far as he possibly could to play a shot only to then purposefully leave it, wave his bat in the air, and shout "Andrew Strauss!" at the top of his voice. It was quite a sight.
Unfazed.
I've known Jamie for the best part of 30 years, albeit not by choice. I first met him when I moved into my bedroom in Pinkneys Green in 1988, and he has hung around ever since.
It has to be playing in the SW Borlase 1st XV with Jamie. After years of brotherly competition, this was also when I came to terms with the fact that Jamie is a lot better than me at rugby (although I still won't admit this to him).
Honest.
Jamie and I played junior rugby together and then were in the same form at secondary school.
During the year between school and uni, Jamie won 2 free tickets to go round Europe and offered one to me. Despite a major argument over a card game (my bad), an incident with some Alsatians, and one trip to hospital, we had a great time!
Unique.
Durham University, St Cuthbert's Society.
During a rugby social when Jamie projectile vomited on a fellow rugby teammates’ suede shoes which started a procession of projectile vomiting from other teammates.
Made-of-glass.
Cuths Bs rugby team.
Drinking a beer on the beach in Byron Bay watching the whales swim past as the sun set after a day surfing.
Forgetful (or if we want postive things then loyal)
I met Jamie at secondary school, where he tripped me up outside the school hall and I grazed my knees. Some profuse bleeding and strapping up by the school matron later Jamie was very apologetic about the situation. We’ve been friends ever since.
Surfing the same waves in Spain and Bali or fistbumping a monkey on a volcano in Indonesia.
Young-at-heart. Is that one word?
University toga party 2006; really didn't like him for the first three to six months; way too loud, and potentially better at rugby than me.
Spending six rainless days walking through Scotland sleeping in bothies and climbing Munros, pretending we were characters in Lord of the Rings.
Pain-in-the-arse
Your wedding presence is more important to us than your wedding presents.
However — if you do wish to buy us a gift — we have a small gift list at John Lewis that opens on 15 June 2019. Otherwise we would love a contribution to our honeymoon fund!
